Pokémon Legends: Arceus features massive, semi-open world spaces filled with lakes, mountains, and vast expanses of land that teem with all different kinds of unique Pokémon. It’s no wonder, then, that you’re able to obtain special Ride Pokémon — more commonly known as mounts — to traverse these sprawling areas in a more timely fashion.
In total, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has five Ride Pokémon: Wyrdeer, Ursaluna, Basculegion, Sneasler, and Hisuian Braviary. All five of these Pokémon are necessary if you’re planning to visit everywhere contained within the four corners of Hisui, so it’s in your interest to gain access to them as quickly as possible.
It’s worth noting that all of these Pokémon are unlocked as part of the main story, although there’s obviously value in knowing when you can expect to encounter each one so that you can plan your expeditions up to that point accordingly.
Here’s how to get every mount in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Pokémon Legends Arceus Ride Pokémon – How to get all mounts
Wyrdeer
Wyrdeer functions as a basic kind of steed in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, allowing you to gallop across flat ground much faster. You get Wyrdeer in the Obsidian Fieldlands shortly after meeting Warden Mai and being allowed to cross the bridge towards the Heights. At this point, you’ll also receive the Celestica Flute, which you’ll use to summon all Ride Pokémon from here on out.
Wyrdeer is by far the best mount for quickly traversing regular land, and will be invaluable to you throughout your entire adventure. Like all mounts, however, this specific Wyrdeer can only be called for the purpose of helping you make your way across Hisui. If you want a Wyrdeer of your own, you’ll need to catch and evolve a Stantler.

Ursaluna
After wrapping up your first couple of expeditions in the Obsidian Fieldlands, you’ll eventually gain access to a new area called the Crimson Mirelands. It’s here that you’ll first meet Ursaluna.
Ursaluna tends to hang out at Sludge Mound, which is a fair bit north of the base camp you originally arrive at. While Wyrdeer takes to you immediately, the only way to earn Ursaluna’s trust is to defeat it in battle.
Ursaluna functions in a similar way to Wyrdeer aside from the fact that it’s remarkably slower. The trade-off for this is that it has the ability to detect hidden treasure, which can nab you all kinds of rare and unique items.
Basculegion
Basculegion is obtained in the next area you’ll visit on your journey across Hisui: the Cobalt Coastlands. Shortly after arriving here, you’ll learn that you need to cross a vast sea in order to get to Firespit Island. For this, you’ll need the help of Basculegion, who is watched over by Warden Iscan.
Iscan is a shy man who tells you that you need to catch a Dusclops if you’re going to make Basculegion’s favourite food and earn its trust. Fortunately, Dusclops can be found relatively nearby at Deadwood Haunt. Once you catch it, bring it back to Iscan and have it use Dark Pulse on Basculegion’s dinner. A cutscene will then play in which Basculegion decides you’re a worthy rider, at which point you’ll gain access to Legends: Arceus’ equivalent of Surf.
Sneasler
Sneasler can be found in the Coronet Highlands, which is the fourth main location you’ll visit during the main story of Legends: Arceus. Gen 5 fans will likely recognise its Warden, Ingo, from Unova’s Battle Subway — nice touch, Game Freak.
Obtaining Sneasler mostly just involves following Ingo through a series of caves until you reach Sneasler’s abode. It will descend from high up in the mountains and greet you, at which point you’ll be prompted to play your Celestica Flute for it. Once it’s on your side, you’ll be able to scale mountains all over Hisui — collecting other people’s satchels was one thing, but you can’t expect us to believe that the screenshot embedded above isn’t a direct reference to Death Stranding.
Hisuian Braviary
Hisuian Braviary is the best mount in the entire game, but it’s also by far the most difficult to unlock. You don’t gain access to it until you reach the Alabaster Icelands, at which point you’ll need to chase a girl named Sabi up mountains and through temples until she finally starts to take you seriously. Then you have to battle her — she has a Rhyperior, a Magmortar, and an Electivire — and then you have to fight Braviary, too. It’s a nightmare!
Once you get it though, you can soar through the skies of Hisui as much as you could possibly want. This makes traversal almost infinitely faster and shrinks the maps to a size that allows you to visit anywhere you want at a moment’s notice. It’s pretty great, once you get past all the annoying battle stuff.
