Pokémon GO is releasing another raid that features a Shadow variant of the moon Pokémon, Cresselia, as part of another Team GO Rocket takeover event.
This raid guide will help players know Shadow Cresselia's weaknesses so that they can catch the Sinnoh legendary in their own game. The Pokémon in this raid is a Psychic-type and is currently one of the most powerful creatures available in Niantic's Pokémon GO.
Shadow Cresselia Raid Guide
Cresselia is powerful in both PvP and PvE formats and its Shadow variant will make its debut in the upcoming Adventure Week: Taken Over event.
If you are looking to get your hands on Shadow Cresselia, there is a Special Research Task that you need to follow that involves chasing and taking down Team Rocket leader Giovanni, according to Dexerto.
The raid Pokémon, as a Psychic-type, is weak against Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type attacks, and focusing on any of these will let you take it down faster. Another to note is that Shadow Cresselia is resistant to both Fighting and Psychic-type moves.
There are quite a few Pokémon that make for great counters in the upcoming raid, including Dawn Wings Necrozma, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Gengar, Mega Banette, and others.
Make sure to level your Pokémon up so they learn powerful moves that you can use against the raid boss.
Another thing to take note of is that windy weather boosts Shadow Cresselia's power, which means that you should avoid raid locations that have such weather conditions.
Using Pokémon GO's Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) mechanic will let you deal more damage, said GameRant.
Preparing Your Team
This is a mechanic where a Pokémon deals more damage using moves that are the same type as itself, such as Mega Gengar using Shadow Ball or Hydreigon using Brutal Swing.
You should also avoid using Poison- and Fighting-type Pokémon against this raid boss as they will receive super effective damage from Shadow Cresselia's Psychic-type attacks.
The Shadow Cresselia raid will start on Aug. 8, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. and will run until Aug. 12, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time.
Also, the Special Research Story that features Giovanni will be claimable until the end of Pokémon GO: Shared Skies on Sept. 3, 2024, at 9:59 a.m. local time.
After you catch this particular raid boss, you can then start to prepare for the next Pokémon, Shadow Lugia, which is another returning legendary. This Pokémon will appear in five-star Shadow Raids from Aug. 10, 2024, to Aug. 11, 2024, according to Pokémon GO.
