"Pokémon GO's" February calendar is filled with bug-related events including "Karrablast and Shelmet Community Day." Now, a new event "Scattered to the Winds" will give us a dose of shiny debuts on top of special rewards and increased wild encounters.
Following the "Beloved Buddies" event, this three-day event is all about delivering action for trainers across the globe. If you're a fan of cute-looking Pokémon Spewpa, you shouldn't miss this limited-time event.
'Pokemon GO Scattered To The Winds' Event Details

According to an early report by ScreenRant, the upcoming event will start on Feb. 18 at 10 AM local time until Feb. 20 at 8 PM local time. It's important to note that while it's free for everyone, you can pay to access new content for extra rewards.
While this event is shorter than some previous ones, it comes packed with new shiny Pokémon, enhanced wild encounters, and special bonuses.
New Shiny Pokémon Debuts Await Us
In contrast to the latest "Beloved Buddies" event, no fresh Pokémon species are entering the game. Yet, Scatterbug and its evolutions Spewpa and Vivillon will have their shiny debuts.
How to Evolve Scatterbug in 'Pokémon GO'
- Scatterbug evolves to Spewpa: 25 Scatterbug Candy is needed.
- Spewpa evolves to Vivillon: 100 Scatterbug Candy is needed.
Scatterbug does not exist in the wild as other Pokémon. Trainers have to pin postcards from gifts that they get from friends to unlock encounters. With the beginning of this event, shiny Scatterbug encounters will be available whenever you get one through this process.
Vivillon, the last evolution, has 18 different pattern variations, and these are dependent on the geographic location of the postcards you get. Each variation will also come with its shiny counterpart.
Boosted Wild Encounters
During the "Scattered To The Winds" event, there are a few Pokémon that have boosted spawn rates. These are traditional Bug-type and Flying-type Pokémon, and it is a great time to stock up your collection.
Increased Spawn List (Shiny Available)
- Caterpie (Gen 1)
- Pidgey (Gen 1)
- Spearow (Gen 1)
- Wurmple (Gen 3)
- Starly (Gen 4)
While none of them are top-tier Bug-type attackers, their increased availability makes them great shiny hunt candidates and potential evolvers for Pokédex completion.
Event Bonuses & Rewards
The event is not only about catching Pokémon—trainers can look forward to enjoying a range of bonuses that augment gameplay.
Bonus XP & PokéStop Rewards
- 2x XP on each PokéStop spin during the event
- 5x XP for first-time spinning a PokéStop
Boosted Gift Opening & Shiny Pidgey Odds
- 40 gifts opened daily (free players)
- Up to 60 gifts opened daily by Eggs-pedition Access Ticket holders
- Boosted odds of finding a Shiny Pidgey
Lucky Pokémon Trade Update
- Guaranteed Lucky Pokémon for trades of Pokémon caught in 2019 or before
- Boosted limit of 35 guaranteed Lucky Pokémon trades
'Scattered To The Winds' Collection Challenge
Trainers will be able to finish an exclusive Collection Challenge, which entails developing event-spotlighted Pokémon.
- Collection Challenge Rewards
- XP Boost
- Stardust
- Guaranteed Scyther encounter
The field research challenges acquired by spinning Gyms and PokéStops will provide additional Pokémon encounters and rare objects, such as Rare Candies.
The "Scattered To The Winds "event brings us another batch of new shiny Pokemon. For collectors, this is good news especially since Vivillon has multiple versions. If you count the shiny counterparts, you will need to have 36 Vivillons to call yourself the ultimate Vivillon collector.
Earlier this month, Niantic brought a "Small Yet Strong" event featuring Shiny Nymble and Lokix, two of the newest bug-type Pokemon from the Paldea region.
