Richard Osman has filmed his "final ever episode" of BBC 's Pointless after announcing he was quitting the show after 12 years in April. The television presenter released a statement to mark the moment that only he and co-star Alexander Armstrong knew about.
After keeping it secret, Richard took to social media to inform his followers the episode that aired on Wednesday, July 20 was his last, although confirmed he'd still appear in repeats.
Richard also paid a sweet tribute to Alexander on his final show, as the last instalment opened he told his co-star: "I was just in an interview, and they always ask about Pointless at the end of it, they always say 'and how's Pointless and what's Xander like?' and I always say how lovely you are. And it occurred to me that I don't tell you in person often enough.

"So I just want to say how lucky I am to work with you. I always think after the end of interviews, I must tell Xander in person, which I never do. So now I'll tell you on telly."
After the episode, Richard posted on Twitter: "I will still be on screen for a while in repeats, but yesterday was my final ever episode of daytime #Pointless after 12 years. Only Xander and I knew that at time of recording, so I wanted to give him a heartfelt message. New episodes with new hosts will be with in September!"
He added: "Thank you for your lovely and very kind comments about yesterday's show. It was filmed back in December 2021, and although my 2022 has mainly been writing, we have also recorded another 100 'House Of Games' so you won't get rid of me that easily!"
Earlier this year Richard announced he was leaving Pointless. Breaking the news, he said: "After 12 wonderful years I'm leaving daytime Pointless, to concentrate on writing. Will still be doing the celebrity shows and 'House Of Games'. It has been the GREATEST pleasure and I can't wait to start watching as a viewer. Thank you to everyone!"
He added: "Will miss the whole team, especially the incomparable @XanderArmstrong. Thank you to everyone who watches, it really has been a dream, and I know the show will continue to go from strength to strength." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
