The Pogues' frontman Shane MacGowan is back in hospital less than three weeks before Christmas, according to his wife. Victoria Mary Clarke, his partner of more than 35 years, asked people to 'send prayers and healing vibes' as she revealed the news on Twitter.
In recent years, the Fairytale Of New York singer has been in and out of hospital for medical care. The 64-year-old has also used a wheelchair since he broke his pelvis in 2015.
Shane's wife Victoria, who is a writer, shared a picture of the musician sat in a chair smiling on Twitter on Monday morning, the Mirror reports. She captioned it: "Please send prayers and healing vibes to @ShaneMacGowan in hospital again and really hoping to get out asap!! Thank you."

Worried fans flooded the comments to wish him a speedy recovery. "Not at Christmas, the man is the sound of Christmas... I hope he recovers swiftly and not too much discomfort," one fan shared.
Another said: "Awh Shane! Bless him. Sending so much love his way. Hope he's back home in time for Christmas." Another commented: "At least he's still smiling. Wishing this legend a speedy recovery."
Victoria, 56, told the Irish Mirror that the singer was admitted to hospital last Friday. "I’m definitely hoping he gets out this week," she said. "He’s a bit frustrated, I think. He finds it very frustrating… he wants to get out."
When asked if he was doing okay, she said: “I think he is, yeah” and later added: “Please don’t get too worried. I’m sure he’ll be fine.”
The Pogues regrouped as a touring act between 2001 and 2014. Since his fall, Shane has made a handful of public appearances in a wheelchair.
Shane and Victoria got married at Copenhagen City Hall in Denmark in 2018. Their close friend Johnny Depp was one of their guests and also sang at the wedding.
