Beating the Denver Broncos was the best and worst thing that could have happened to the New England Patriots.
On one hand, they got their fourth win of the season and potentially made it more difficult for owner Robert Kraft to fire coach Bill Belichick. But on the other hand, they played themselves out of the No. 2 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.
If the season ended today, the Patriots would pick at No. 4.
That number could worsen with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets still left on their regular season schedule. If the Patriots are no longer in position to draft Caleb Williams or Drake Maye, should they still be considering quarterback as a top priority in this year’s draft?
Ryan O’Leary and I discuss the possibilities in this week’s Patriots Wire Podcast. We also delve into Belichick’s future with the team and preview Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Should the Patriots keep quarterback as the top priority, or should they look to address other positions, like receiver or offensive line? If they don’t draft a quarterback, could they turn things around with another year of Bailey Zappe or a bridge veteran quarterback under center of an improved roster?
