PM Modi Shares Aerial View of Ram Setu on Ram Navami

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an aerial video of Ram Setu—the mythological bridge from the Ramayana—on Ram Navami (April 6), calling it a "divine sighting" during his return from Sri Lanka. The footage, captured en route to Rameswaram, coincided with the inauguration of India’s first vertical-lift rail bridge, the new Pamban Bridge.

The new ₹535-crore Pamban Bridge replaces the 1914 British-era structure, enabling trains to run at 100 kmph and featuring a 72.5-meter vertical lift span for ships. Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Rameswaram-Tambaram (Chennai) train service during the inauguration.

On Ram Navami, PM Modi shared aerial views of Ram Setu, coinciding with Ayodhya's "Surya Tilak" ritual where sunlight directly illuminated Lord Ram's idol at noon.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's absence from the inauguration event has sparked political tensions.

Ram Setu, believed to be built by Lord Ram’s vanara army to rescue Sita, spans India and Sri Lanka. The new Pamban Bridge enhances connectivity to Rameswaram’s temples while honoring this heritage.
