Seeking to send a message of confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would once again come to power, the Union Council of Ministers, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at its last meeting, on Sunday, deliberated on a 100-day agenda for quick implementation after the formation of the new government in May 2024.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister reportedly told his colleagues: “Go and win. We will meet again soon.”
According to sources in the government, the Council of Ministers also brainstormed on the vision document for “Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India 2047)”, and a detailed action plan for the next five years.

“The roadmap for Viksit Bharat is a result of more than two years of intensive preparation. It takes a ‘whole of government’ approach involving all Ministries, and wide-ranging consultations with State governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society, scientific organisations, and the mobilisation of the youth for seeking their ideas, suggestions and inputs. More than 2,700 meetings, workshops and seminars were held at various levels. Suggestions of more than 20 lakh youth were received,” a source said.
The source said the roadmap for ‘Viksit Bharat’ has a comprehensive blueprint with clearly articulated national vision, aspirations, goals, and action points. “Its goals include the areas of economic growth, sustainable development goals, ease of living, ease of doing business, infrastructure, social welfare, etc.,” the source said.
Mr. Modi had earlier asked his ministerial colleagues to hold extensive consultations and, based on the inputs, prepare a plan of action for the first 100 days of the new government, to be taken up at the last Union Council of Ministers’ meeting. The Niti Aayog was also involved in giving final touches to the draft plan of action.
As part of the exercise, on December 11, 2023, the Prime Minister had launched an outreach programme to seek inputs from youth on their vision for India in 2047. During the programme, Mr. Modi had said that in the life of any nation, history provided a time period when the nation could make exponential strides in its development journey. For India, the ‘Amrit Kaal’ was ongoing and it was the period in the history of India when the country was going to take a quantum leap.
“Today, every institution and every individual should move with a resolution that every effort and act will be for Viksit Bharat. The aim of your goals, your resolutions should be only one — developed India. We have 25 years of ‘Amrit Kaal’ in front of us. We have to work 24 hours a day for the goal of Viksit Bharat. This is the environment we have to create as a family,” the Prime Minister had said, pointing out that India was going to be the leader in terms of the working-age population for the next 25-30 years and that the world recognised this.
From the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15, 2022, which marked 75 years of the country’s Independence Mr. Modi had spelled out “Panch Pran (five resolves)” for citizens, which included the pledge to make India a developed nation by 2047.
