A money-savvy plumber has warned of one major mistake you could be making when it comes to your radiators.
Taking to TikTok plumber Fraser Hoehle said people could be throwing away hundreds of euro by using the incorrect setting on their radiators.
The incredible tip for households trying to cut back on their energy consumption quickly went viral, with his video getting over 67k views.
Fraser explained people may have their radiators at unnecessarily high temperatures without getting any benefits, reports RSVP.

He shared that while you may touch your radiator and think that that is the temperature it’s omitting. However, this normally isn’t the case.
His first recommendation was for people to add an important device to their radiator.
“Make sure your radiator has a thermostat. This makes a world of a difference,” the TikToker said.
Fraser added: “Also, a lot of people associate the heat in their home or the living room etcetera by how hot their radiator is.
“A lot of people will go, ‘It’s cold in here’, and touch the radiator, and it’s roasting.
“They’ll associate the heat with the radiator being hot when it’s actually all to do with how hot your thermostat is reading in your house.
“If you can go to your boiler in your house and go to your radiator side and turn that down.”
He recommends putting it at 55 degrees as it’s the optimal temperature for your home .
The plumber continued: “You’ll normally find a lot of radiators in houses are actually oversized, so running it at a low temperature will help massively.”
He warned that this may not work for every single house, but it’s suitable for the “majority” of people.
Another area where people are wasting unnecessary energy is at their kitchen and bathroom sinks.
Fraser said: “When you’re washing your hands, don’t wash them with hot water when you’re at the sink. Wash them with cold water and soap. The soap will kill the germs.
“Your boiler uses its most energy, hitting up the first 25 degrees of water.
“By the time it’s got to your outlet anyway, you’ve turned the tap off, so you’ve just wasted a whole load of energy and hot water.”
