'Plot twist' theory as to who really won the £195m Euromillions

People have wished the winner of the record-breaking Euromillions jackpot "good luck".

The ECHO spoke to the owner of the Bargain Booze store on Liverpool Road in Formby which has been at the centre of a gripping rumour which has speculated the winning ticket of the £195m was in fact bought in the Merseyside town. The eye-watering jackpot was claimed last month, just a day after the winning numbers were drawn.

The following week, one employee at the store told the ECHO she was certain she had sold the winning numbers before a handwritten letter was sent to the shop claiming the ticket had been bought in Scotland. Robert Boyle, 55, who owns the shop, said: "It's great that everybody is talking about it and people have been coming in asking about it.

"People even think it's me because I was away in Mexico at the time. Every other customer comes in asking about it. You get a big payout if you sell the winning ticket as well."

ECHO readers have now had their say and have sent their own messages to the owner of the winning ticket. Steven Shanley said: "It's nobody's business! I hope whoever has won, stays quiet and enjoys their win."

Lynn Haste said: "Hope whoever won it is having the best life."

One person feels the prize money should be capped. Neil Berry said: "I personally feel prizes should be capped at £10m and the rest could be put to better use. No one on this planet needs almost £200m, even £10m is far more than enough."

Karl Paton had his own theory as to what happened: "Plot twist, he scanned the ticket said it was a dud and now his living the life with it."

Camelot neither confirmed nor denied where the ticket was bought with the winner of the jackpot yet to be named publicly. There is no suggestion from the company that Robert Boyle won the money.
