Nottingham Forest boosted their hopes of Premier League survival with a precious and much-needed victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Forest beat Brighton 3-1 at the City Ground on Wednesday night to lift themselves out of the relegation zone. It ended a miserable run of 11 games without a win, which dated back to February.
Another defeat had looked on the cards after the Seagulls went ahead through Facundo Buonanotte’s goal on his first Premier League start after Brennan Johnson had missed an early penalty for the Reds.

But an own goal by Pascal Gross on the stroke of half-time followed by second-half strikes from Danilo and Morgan Gibbs-White gave Forest a vital win. This has given the fans renewed belief that their team can avoid the drop in their first season in the top flight in 23 years.
However, there is still plenty of work to do, with Forest only a point clear of Leicester City and two ahead of Everton, who take on Newcastle United on Thursday evening. Steve Cooper's side are next in action away to Brentford on Saturday.
After that, they take on bottom club Southampton, struggling Chelsea, title-chasing Arsenal and round off their campaign at a recently rejuvenated Crystal Palace.
