Games come and go from the PlayStation Plus games library but, this month, a pretty juicy stack of titles are on the way out.
On August 20, games leaving PlayStation Plus include Sea of Stars, which achieved an 87 per cent rating on Metacritic, and Yakuza spin-off Lost Judgment.
Here's the full list of 10 titles:
- Destroy All Humans
- Destroy All Humans 2
- Lost Judgment
- Midnight Fight Express
- Moving Out 2
- NBA 2K24
- Need for Speed Unbound
- Sea of Stars
- Spellforce III Reforced
- Trials of Mana
These are part of the PS Plus Catalogue, not the monthly games selection, and as such are only available to subs of the Premium and Extra tiers. Most are playable on PS4 and PlayStation 5, bar the current-gen-only Need for Speed Unbound.
Let’s take a quick look at some of the highlights here.
PS Plus games leaving in August
Need for Speed Unbound
Need for Speed Unbound belongs to a genre that used to be massively popular a couple of decades ago: the arcade racer.
It's great fun, and there’s no need to play it for hour after hour. Just a taste will do the trick if you're low on time between now and August 20.
Sea of Stars
Sea of Stars is a 16-bit style role-playing game, the kind that might take millennial and Gen X players back to their SNES days. There’s more than a hint of the old-school Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger to this one.
A full play through will take upwards of 20 hours, though, so if you want to get this one finished before it is removed from PlayStation Plus, get started now.
Lost Judgment
Lost Judgment is a relative of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games. It’s part of the same universe, and has comparable story-heavy third-person action gameplay, but we’re focusing on different characters here.
Among fans, it’s considered one of the best games in the wider Yakuza (and offshoot) series. But they will also likely say you need to play almost all the Yakuza games before Lost Judgment, in order to squeeze the most from the story. It achieved an 82 per cent Metacritic rating, and takes around 24 hours to finish, according to How Long to Beat.
Want some better news? We haven’t heard what games are being added to the PS Plus Catalogue in August 2024, but subscribers should claim the Monthly Games selection now. This month, we got Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach, and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights.
