PlayStation Plus monthly games for September feature Harry Potter

Sony has announced the set of games coming to PlayStation Plus next month — including a Harry Potter title.

As usual, three games will be available for all tiers of PlayStation Plus members. They are Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, Little Nightmares II, and MLB The Show 24.

They’ll be available from September 3. And that’s your reminder to claim August’s games before that date. Those are LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach, and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights.

The big news for this coming month is PlayStation Plus is getting a day-one release, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. We’ve commonly seen these come to Xbox Game Pass, but not so much PlayStation Plus.

Here’s a closer look at those upcoming games.

PlayStation Plus monthly games for September

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions clearly isn’t going to be as epic a game as Hogwarts Legacy. You play Quidditch, take part in the sport’s World Cup, and get to visit locations from the films.

As in the trailer, released last month, you can play as one of the series’s famous characters or make your own. But as yet we have no idea if this will be a fun distraction from all the massive games coming up before the end of the year or a total dud.

It comes from Unbroken Studios, a developer without a huge history. It made Fractured Lands, a post-apocalypse multiplayer vehicular combat game released in Early Access in 2018. However, it received mixed reviews and was removed from Steam in 2023.

Let’s hope Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions fares better.

Little Nightmares II is much more of a known entity, a delightful puzzle-platformer that earned an impressive 82% rating at Metacritic.

It was released in 2021. Despite a semi-cartoony look, you may find this game genuinely scary — and the combat is tricky.

Little Nightmares II is not a slog, though, and you should be able to finish it within about six hours according to How Long To Beat. It’s our top recommendation this month, given we don’t know how good the Harry Potter game is yet.

MLB The Show 24 is the last pick for PlayStation Plus’s September Monthly Games. As a baseball title, it has a more obvious appeal for US players than UK ones.

It’s a sim-style game, so you must know about baseball to get the most from it. However, it is highly regarded among those who know their stuff and has an 80% rating on Metacritic.
