PlayStation Plus Monthly games for February announced

Sony has announced the games coming to PlayStation Plus in February, and they include a potential viral multiplayer hit.

Foamstars, Rollerdrome, and Steelrising are your PlayStation Plus games for February. You’ll be able to access them from February 6.

However, our favourite bonus is actually something else. Subscribers to PlayStation Plus Premium will also be able to access Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Game Trial, which lets you try out the brilliant 2023 game of the year contender for up to two hours.

As ever, this news also acts as a reminder to claim January’s games before they disappear. That crop includes A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West and Nobody Saves the World.

There’s a final perk for February, too. Fall Guys fans can unlock an “Icons Pack,” which includes costumes for Sony characters Ratchet, Clank, and Aloy (from the Horizon games) plus a bunch of more aesthetic add-ons for in-game characters. Pure fluff, but some gamers love this stuff.

Let’s take a closer look at the actual games you can claim in February.

PlayStation Plus February games

Foamstars is a multiplayer shooter game made family friendly because you shoot foam, not bullets. It’s a less cute take on Nintendo’s brilliant Platoon games.

You paint the floor with your team’s foam colour to gain a speed advantage, while there’s a variety of modes that determine what you’re actually trying to do in each round.

The headline-grabber: Rubber Duck Party, in which you have to jump aboard a giant duck to steer it towards the destination, but the other team are trying to do the same, too.

Foamstars will likely be bustling at launch, because it's out on PlayStation Plus on day one of release. But will it have the legs of today’s most popular multiplayer games? Who knows?

Next up is Rollerdrome, a brilliant indie title that initially appears to bear some similarities to Foamstars. You play as a fast-moving rollerskater, fighting against other contenders in a battle arena. With real guns this time.

However, unlike Foamstars this is a single-player title, one originally released in 2022. This one may have passed you by, but it’s worth checking out.

Rollerdrome won the Bafta for Best British Game in 2022, and was developed by London-based Roll7, which also made the OlliOlli series.

February’s last PlayStation Plus game is Steelrising, a 2022 action game called a “soulslike” by many.

This means it owes a debt to the Dark Souls games, packed with tricky timing-based combat and a dark theme. Steelrising is set in Paris during a fictional version of the French Revolution, one packed with humanoid robots.

Steelrising is only for PlayStation 5 players, not those stuck on PS4, as it’s a demanding title.

Foamstars, Rollerdrome, and Steelrising will be available to all tiers of PlayStation Plus subscriber. It’s not a bad time to re-subscribe if your membership has lapsed, too, as Sony is offering 41 per cent off 12-month packages to those who don’t have an active subscription already.

That means you’ll pay £58.99 for a year for PlayStation Plus Extra, and £80.99 for PlayStation Plus Premium. However, the basic PlayStation Plus Essential isn’t part of the discount, and still costs £59.99 a year.
