Playstation Plus games for May, 2022: FIFA, Curse of the Dead Gods, and Tribes of Midgard

Ahead of the end/start of the month, the new PS+ games for May have been leaked, as they usually are. They include the latest FIFA as a headliner, then two smaller games in Curse of the Dead Gods and Tribes of Midgard. Assuming the leak is accurate, these games should be available from May 3 to June 7 for all PS+ subscribers – and hey, who doesn’t like a free* FIFA?

FIFA 22 launched in October last year and was pretty well received, FUT-based and lootbox-shaped warts and all. Considering it’s one of the largest releases of each year, it’s a pretty giga-get for Playstation to have it on their subscription platform. Naturally, we’re not a million miles away from the next yearly entry, and rapidly approaching the end of the football season, so it’s hardly going to be cutting into EA’s sales. Plus, with that amount of available microtransactions, just getting new players is very valuable. If you do jump in, check out our FIFA guides, including the best way to score goals.

Curse of the Dead Gods I worked on, so there’s a disclosure tidbit for you. I couldn’t possibly tell you its objective quality, since I’m in the credits, but I liked it. If you’re a fan of Hades or other action-roguelikes and want something a little different with a lovely, dark art style, I’d recommend it.

Tribes of Midgard is a “co-op game with a unique blend of action, survival, and roguelite elements” according to publishers Gearbox, which a trailer might do a better job of explaining. Despite going a bit dark since it’s launch, it seems to have done alright for itself, and a new batch of players are likely to help with that too.

All this is via the ResetEra forums and Dealabs. Expect to see the next set leaked from them in around a month.
