Good news for those playing on the PlayStation VR2. They now have a chance to access additional games on PC. With this they get to complement the already diverse PS VR2 games available for the PlayStation 5. This support officially rolls out on August 7.

You see with the PS VR2 was first launched last year, PS5 players were introduced to a new generation of VR games, especially ones with innovative gameplay and immersive sensory features. Once the support becomes available, players get access to buy and play the expansive library of thousands of VR games offered on Steam. These include the likes of fan favorites Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder.

While this is indeed exciting news, there's a bit of a catch. To make it happen, players need to buy the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter. This is available for $59.99. But wait, there's more! Players also need to purchase a DisplayPort cable, which is sold separately, and compatible with DisplayPort 1.4. It goes without saying that they'll need a Steam account.

Players also need access to PC which meets these minimum requirements:

  • Operating System
    • Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
  • Processor
    • Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later architecture is required)
  • RAM/Memory
    • 8 GB or more
  • GPU/Graphics Card
    • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing or later architecture is required)
    • NVIDIA RTX series
    • AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later / AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later
  • DisplayPort
    • DisplayPort 1.4 (must have a standard DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output port)
  • USB
    • Direct connection only
  • Bluetooth
    • Bluetooth 4.0 or later

Setting Things Up

While all of these may appear to be complicated, the setup is rather easy. What players need to do is connect the PlayStation VR2 to the PC via the PS VR2 PC adapter and the DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Once that's dine they then have to download the PlayStation VR2 App and the SteamVR App from Steam. With this they can now set up PS VR2 on the PC while being able to customize the settings and play area. Players can then start buying and playing games in SteamVR.

Of course, performance ultimately varies depending on the PC setup, which includes system compatibility and the quality of the DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Just make sure that the setup meets the minimum requirements. In addition, SteamVR titles also have individual system requirements.
