Do we really have to write this one out?
For this edition of “Player Prowl,” a weekly post where we hypothetically add an opponent’s player to the Carolina Panthers, sits the roster of the reigning, defending, undisputed Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. And being that they are the reigning, defending, undisputed Super Bowl champions, they must have a plentiful program to pick from, right?
We could go with cornerback Jalen Ramsey, perhaps the very best player at his position.
We could go with wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who could also be the very best player at his position.
Or, we can just cut right to the chase and go with defensive tackle Aaron Donald—the very best player at any position.
This once-in-a-generation defender has been amongst the game’s elite pretty much upon entering the NFL as the 2014 draft’s 13th overall pick. The Pitt Panther started right off with capturing the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and has done absolutely everything since.
Donald—through his eight pro seasons—has racked up three AP Defensive Player of the Year awards, seven First-team All-Pro nods, eight Pro Bowl selections and that shiny little ring everyone plays for each year. Heck, if it weren’t for the league’s antiquated selection process for Super Bowl MVP, he would’ve won that too.
In fact, if the 31-year-old did indeed decide to retire following his hoisting of the Lombardi Trophy—he’d undoubtedly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
We know we got it right, but we’ll give you a chance to cast your vote:
