Player grades: Bulls lose second-straight in overtime, fall to Knicks

The Chicago Bulls lost their second-straight overtime game on Wednesday night, this time to the New York Knicks, 128-120.

New York had the upper-hand in the closing moments of the fourth quarter, but a block by Patrick Williams led to a DeMar DeRozan fast break layup to tie the game at 117, eventually leading to overtime.

In the extra period, the Bulls could not hit a shot, being outscored 11-3 by Jalen Brunson and the Knicks to lose their second-straight game.

DeRozan led the Bulls with 32 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Zach LaVine added 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Check out the player grades from Chicago’s overtime loss below.

DeMar DeRozan: A-

DeRozan led the way with another 30-point performance, hitting 16-of-17 from the free throw line, including the game-tying layup to force overtime. Deebo scored 22 of his 32 points in the second half, yet wasn’t enough to outlast the Knicks.

Zach LaVine: B

Zach LaVine finished with 25 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal on 11-of-23 shooting from the field on Wednesday. LaVine scored 15 of his 25 points in the second half but like DeRozan, the Bulls just couldn’t top the Knicks in the extra period.

Nikola Vucevic: B+

Nikola Vucevic finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in Wednesday’s loss. Vooch shot an efficient 9-of-16 from the field but struggled from deep, making just 1-of-5 from downtown.

Patrick Williams: B

Patrick Williams played well in 40 minutes in Wednesday’s overtime loss, finishing with 11 points, two rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Williams’ season-high five assists showcased growth in his growing all-around offensive skillset.

Alex Caruso: B-

Alex Caruso started at point guard again on Wednesday with Ayo Dosumu out with an injury, finishing with four points, two rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Caruso is a name to watch near the trade deadline if the Bulls don’t start winning games.

Coby White: A-

Coby White shot the ball well off the bench on Wednesday, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor and 2-of-4 from 3-point range.
