Platinum Jubilee: Where are the beacons being lit in Wales for the jubilee?

The four-day Platinum Jubilee weekend will see a huge range of events taking place across the UK in celebration of the Queen's 70 years on the throne. Among these there is one uniform event set to take place on Thursday night (June 2) which will see the UK, British overseas territories, and the Commonwealth come together.

For the event over 1,500 beacons are set to be lit as part of the jubilee celebrations, building on a tradition of lighting beacons to mark significant royal celebrations. Beacons have previously been lit to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, and the Queen's Silver, Golden, and Diamond Jubilees, as well as her 90th birthday. The event will be the first official celebration for the Platinum Jubilee.

The event will kick off at 2pm with the "proclamation" from town criers announcing the lighting of beacons later that day. At 9.35pm communities will be encouraged to get local bands or pipers to perform Diu Regnare - Stuart Liddell's new tune in tribute to Her Majesty for the Platinum Jubilee - from a location of their choice.

Organisers behind the Queen’s Jubilee beacons are asking bugle and cornet players to rally together to perform a unique bugle call five minutes before they are lit. At 9.45pm beacons will be lit across the UK. Here's where you can find them in Wales - and you can find more out more information here.
