The Queen will celebrate 70 years on the throne with a four-day weekend of Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The annual Trooping the Colour event will take place on Thursday, June 2, featuring 1,500 officers and soldiers, plus 250 horses from the Army’s Household Division on Horse Guards Parade.
Following the parade will be a military flypast featuring more than 70 aircraft–which is more than three times the number of aircraft that took part in the Queen’s last birthday parade in 2019.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: “I’m proud that the Armed Forces are leading the nation in celebration with such a spectacular display.
“Throughout the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, we will all enjoy the expertise, skill and talent of our Armed Forces as we celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.”
When is the Platinum Jubilee flypast happening?
The Platinum Jubilee flypast will take place on Thursday, June 2.
They will assemble at around 11.45am in The Wash and will appear over central London at around 12.40pm. The aircraft is expected to pass over Buckingham Palace at around 1pm.

The Platinum Jubilee flypast will begin in The Wash, North Seam Southwold, Suffolk, and Southend area. It will then make its way towards London via Swaffham, Thetford, and Colchester.
The military aircraft will fly over Buckingham Palace where the Queen will be watching from the balcony, before dispersing over Kent, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire.

The Trooping the Colour parade, including the flypast, will be broadcast live on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer. Coverage will begin at 10am.
