Platinum Jubilee: Amazon shopper slammed for 'absolutely tragic' £37 decoration

An Amazon customer has come under fire from fellow shoppers for a decoration they purchased to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

This bank holiday marks 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne in 1952, and people across the UK are commemorating the big day.

One shopper spent £37 on a cardboard cutout of the monarch, and it has received a very mixed reception online.

Taking to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, they wrote: "I managed to get the Queen last minute from Amazon. £36.99 but worth it lol."

Since being shared, the post has received more than 2,400 likes and over 350 comments from fellow shoppers giving their opinion.

Some were unimpressed by the pricey decoration, with one stating: "This is the opposite of a money saving tip, I don’t need a cardboard queen thanks."

A second agreed: "Sorry what? You paid £37 for a piece of cardboard that stands up? I thought this was a bargain page?"

"35 quid, that's over half of my weekly carers allowance that the government think I need to live on comfortably," commented a third.

"What a waste of money for a bit of cardboard," a fourth argued.

A fifth echoed: "More money than sense".

"That’s enough to scare anyone away," joked another.

"Jesus wept," said a seventh, while an eighth added: "Absolutely tragic"

However, not everyone was down on the cardboard cutout, with one commenting: "Think it looks brilliant! Naysayers need to wobble their heads - it’s a bit of fun in these grim times."

"If it makes you happy it's worth the money," stated a second.
