A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death at a popular park in Newham, east London.
The victim, named as 20-year-old Imran Maroof, died after he was found with stab wounds in Plashet Park, East Ham, on July 27.
A teenager from Newham, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, was charged with Mr Maroof’s murder on Friday, Met police said.
He appeared at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Friday and is expected to appear at the Old Bailey next Tuesday.
Police were called to reports of a fight in Plashet Park around 7.40pm on July 27.
Officers attended and found Mr Maroof with stab injuries.
“Despite the efforts of emergency services, he sadly died at the scene,” said a Met spokesperson.
“His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
“Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating.”
