Plans unveiled for new sports facility in Livingston

Livingston could be in line for a new community tennis and multi-sports facility after West Lothian Council agreed to lease land for the project.

Murieston Tennis and Sports Club (MTSC) have been granted a 25-year community benefit lease for a site in Murieston Valley.

The newly-formed charity are aiming to create a community tennis and sports hub at the council-owned site, next to Livingston Cricket Club.

The lease will allow them to try and secure funding to deliver the ambitious project to deliver three full-size floodlit outdoor tennis courts and a multi-use sports court for basketball, netball and five-a-side football.

The project is expected to cost £270,000 and MTSC have already been awarded £100,000 from sportscotland.

West Lothian Council’s Head of Finance and Property Services Donald Forrest said: “The long-term community benefit lease will allow the club to take forward their plans to deliver improved facilities for sports in the south of Livingston.”
