Plans to open a new nightclub in Glasgow city centre have been refused by Glasgow City Council.
A 'change of use' application was submitted to the council's planning department in November last year to turn Cova Glasgow on West Regent Street into a nightclub.
The proposed development included for the extension of opening hours - currently to midnight - until 4.00am at the bar, which occupies the raised ground floor of a five storey B-listed red sandstone Victorian office building.
The application did not include for any changes either externally to the building or internally, with the existing interior and layout remaining exactly as it is - including the dance floor, seating and bar/servery.

In confirming their refusal, the council said that the proposed nightclub operating beyond midnight "would have a significant adverse impact on residential amenity through unacceptable noise and disturbance and considered at unsociable hours contrary to the Council Placemaking principles".
They added that the 4am operating hours would also " have a significant detrimental impact on resident's wellbeing and amenity and is not considered sustainable development".
