Plans to turn a former Lanarkshire church into a new home have been given the go ahead.
The proposals to turn the former Harthill St Andrews Church of Scotland building and manse have been ratified by North Lanarkshire Council planners.
Planning permission was sought for the change of use of the church, which is no longer in use, and manse to a single house.
The site is set back from Edinburgh Road and is surrounded by dwellings to all sides with industrial premises to the north.
The planning report states: “The manse was used as living accommodation associated with the church. As the church is no longer is use it is proposed to convert the church, as well as keeping the manse as living accommodation as it is just now to one house.
“No internal plans have been submitted for the layout of the church. If the church and manse are to be sub divided to more than one house, then a further application would be required for this.
“It is considered that reusing the church and manse to a dwelling house is an acceptable use within the General Urban Area and would protect the church building from deteriorating.
“The proposed development complies with the relevant policies within the North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan.
"The proposal is considered to be acceptable and will not detract from the amenity of the application site or surrounding area.”
