Hundreds of new homes could be coming to a major site in Kirkby as a final public consultation gets underway.
The consultation, for 730 new homes on a stretch of land south of Cherryfield drive close to Kirkby town centre, was launched last week by housing companies Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
Knowsley Council described the proposed development as the “next piece of the jigsaw” for the town’s regeneration. In a statement released about the consultation Knowsley Council also claim the new estate could bring in £17m to the local area through spending by new residents.

Details of the development plans are listed on a dedicated website, with members of the public being asked to submit their comments, with a deadline of November 21.
The proposals involve a mix of homes ranging in size from one to four bedroom, with around 70 of the properties being earmarked for “affordable homes” with 26 bungalows included as part of the design.
The developers, who were identified as preferred bidders for the site last year by Knowsley Council, state they intend to ensure the homes are “energy efficient” with plans to include some of the properties in a pilot scheme to develop low carbon emission homes.
The plans involve the extension of the carpark at Cherryfield drive, highways improvements, and around £1.5m of open space improvements as part of the development.
Planning Director for Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, Andrew Taylor said an earlier consultation held in August and September had informed the latest plans with the company intending to submit a formal planning application next month following this latest round of consultations.
Mr Taylor said: “The proposals provide for a mix of energy efficient homes to suit a range of budgets including smaller homes for first time buyers and young families and bungalows for the elderly.
The proposals are also expected to deliver significant socio-economic benefits to Kirkby and support the town’s ongoing regeneration.”
People can view the latest designs and have until November 21 to comment on the consultation online.
