A new block of flats could be built on the side of a local Edinburgh pub.
A proposal has been submitted to the City of Edinburgh Council to build a block of flats where the Bullfinch's beer garden currently sits. The extension will compromise of three residents apartments in the buzzing neighbourhood.
The Bullfinch opened on Bath Road in Leith back in 2021, boasting of craft ale, tasty brunches and a heated beer garden.

However the latest development plans sees the business asking for a ground floor extension to the pub and a new building developments made up of three residential apartments offering one or two bedrooms. If it gets the go-ahead, residents will also be able to enjoy a roof garden.
In plans seen on the council website, the new development will run across Bath Street while the front of the pub sits on the corner of Salamander Street. As for the exterior, the current plans are proposing a mix of materials, including timber and steel - a bold contrast to the historic tenements on Bath Road and Salamander Street.
The Bullfinch pub is run by the same team who ran The Pitt Street Market which ran weekly in Leith before they announced they were relocating to Granton. They have said they will be opening up again in the Spring/Summer 2023.
Before The Bullfinch, the establishment was under different management and was known as The Pond until 2021. Historic images also show it has the Edinburgh Dock Bar and Restaurant by James Smibert in 1896.
