Plans for a number of affordable houses submitted to Bridgend council are still waiting for a decision this month, based on land near Ridgeway in Brackla, Bridgend.
The proposals which were first submitted to the council in May of 2022 by Manning Construction Ltd and Wales and West Housing Association, would include the construction of 62 affordable dwellings with landscaping, access and associated works in the area.

If given the go-ahead by council bosses the 2.2 hectare site would consist of affordable dwellings, the majority of which would be semi- detached homes made up of one, two and three bedroom properties, set on two streets accessed off Ridgeway.
In all, these properties would be made up of 12 one bedroom houses, 34 two bedroom houses, and 16 three bedroom houses, split between two sections in the northern and southern halves.
The vacant site which is owned by Manning Construction, is considered as a brown field site and is located near to a vet and other public amenities.
It is bordered by dense vegetation to the south, existing commercial uses to the east, vacant land to the north, and residential development to the west and Northwest. This surrounding residential development includes units within the Persimmon Homes development known as Oakwood View.
The report for proposals read: "The site borders an existing residential area, within easy reach of a range of services and public transport. It has a sustainable location, represents the efficient use of land, is accessible by a range of transport other than the private car and is a sustainable form of development.
It added: "The application site represents a deliverable scheme, which would make an important windfall contribution to meeting the council’s market and affordable housing need in a sustainable manner."
