Plans have been lodged with Dublin City Council for a 10-storey complex in Milltown following controversy with a previous version.
Sandford Living Limited, part of the Ardstone group, has re-applied for a large-scale residential development at Milltown Park. If approved, the project will see the demolition of existing structures on site including Milltown Park House, a late 18th-century villa, as well as the provision of 636 apartments across seven blocks, with the highest one being ten storeys high.
There will be 87 studio apartments, 227 one bed units, 296 two bed units and 26 three bed units, according to the plans. Previously, the scheme intended to provide build-to-rent apartments, however this has since changed and the company has confirmed in their planning report that 100 per cent of the units will be build-to-sell.
The previous proposal was highly contested by residents back in 2021, when the original plans were first lodged. Residents slammed the fact that the buildings would be too high, would destroy 70 per cent of the woodland on the site, and most of the proposed apartments at the time were studios.

More than 165 objections were lodged against plans, with TDs slamming the development as being "far too dense and unsustainable." The current development will also see both Tabor House and the Chapel refurbished and reused to provide cultural and community space and ancillary residents' amenities and facilities, as well as a creche within one of the blocks with an outdoor play area.
The development also provides a new access from Milltown Road, and 337 car parking spaces, bicycle parking and 18 motorcycle spaces.
