Plans in for new Dudley Entertainment Quarter

A project to transform several landmark buildings in Dudley town centre has taken a step forward after plans were submitted.

Known as the Dudley Entertainment Quarter, the £4 million scheme will see the renovation and transformation of the town's former museum and art gallery, Old Glasshouse restaurant and a neighbouring office block.

It will create a new leisure zone around Stone Street Square, offering a variety of entertainment outlets in a move expected to create 40 new jobs.

Future occupiers could include food and drink operators and leisure activities such as indoor cricket, laser tag, mini-golf and escape rooms.

The Old Glasshouse restaurant, which has been vacant for the past year, will be reopened while the adjoining office block will be converted into a boutique hotel.

It is being led by Dudley-based Hush Property Developments. Director Hayley Andrews said: "We are thrilled to be part of this exciting development which will bring a new lease of life to these beautiful historic buildings in Dudley.

“Our determination to get the project under way and open the venues for the enjoyment of the people of Dudley and those travelling in from further afield is unwavering."

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council leader Coun Patrick Harley added: "This project will create a massive boost to the local economy and overnight create what is missing with a night-time economy."
