A property firm is set to unveil plans to transform a disused railway depot in Gloucester into a residential scheme which could provide around 300 homes.
Eutopia Homes purchased the eight-acre brownfield site in the city centre, opposite the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and adjacent to Gloucester railway station, from Network Rail in December last year.
The Kent-based company is inviting local people to give the feedback on proposed £70m regeneration project at an event at Gloucester Irish Club on Horton Road on Monday (May 30), before a formal planning application is finalised.
Eutopia Homes has said it is working with architects Darling Associates on the possible development, which could include a mixture of town houses and apartments.
The business added the latest draft of Gloucester City Council’s Local Plan for the area indicates that the site is suitable for around 300 new homes.
Director Lorna Henderson said: “We see a great opportunity here to create an attractive new community that is closely linked to the city centre, public transport and other facilities. The inclusion of green space and landscaping is also very much part of our thinking in transforming the site.”
The acquisition of the site marked Eutopia Homes’ third purchase from Network Rail, following previous transactions for land at Exmouth Junction in Exeter, where it is planning to build 89 apartments.
The company was backed in its acquisition of the Gloucester site by London-based assessment management firm Chenavari Investment Managers.
