A developer’s plans to build 260 new homes in Bridgwater, Somerset have moved a step closer.
Countryside Properties has secured reserved matters consent from Sedgemoor District Council for its Strawberry Grange project, located on Bower Lane on the eastern edge of the town.
The Essex-based FTSE 250 firm is hoping to deliver a mix of two to four-bedroom properties, of which 78 will be classified as affordable housing.
As part of the conditions of approval, Countryside will also deliver and fund a new roundabout, providing access to the site and a link to connect future housing development planned in the Dunwear Lane area.
The firm has partnered with private sector housing provider Sigma Capital Group to deliver 100 build-to-rent units at the development.
Darren Dancey, Countryside’s managing director in the South West, said: “We’re thrilled to have received approval to bring 260 much-needed high-quality homes to Bridgwater, 30% of which will be affordable.
“This is a key milestone in realising our vision for Strawberry Grange and an exciting step forward as we continue to expand our footprint in the South West.”
The company, which opened its first office in Bristol last year as part of its growth plans in the South West, said the first residents had just moved into Sulis Down, its development on the southern edge of Bath of around 170 homes.
Countryside currently has further sites planned for Highbridge in Somerset, as well as Bristol and Swindon.
