Plans announced to transform Beeston hairdressing salon into takeaway

A former hairdressing salon in Beeston could be turned into a takeaway. Plans have been submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council for change of use for the empty property in High Road.

The applicant is seeking a change of use for the ground floor retail unit to a hot food takeaway, with the installation of an external exhaust duct. No details have been revealed about what kind of food would be served.

The site was previously Pure Kutz, a family-run hair salon, which built up around 300 clients during its four years in the town. The business closed down last December due to the ill health of one of the owners, who are still running a salon in Arnold.

Beeston has seen a boom in food and drink establishments in the last 12 months, including the arrival of The Pudding Pantry serving brunch, lunch and desserts, Turkish restaurant Anatolia and burger joint Ohannes in High Road, and Yellow Wood Cafe in Chilwell Road.

New Italian restaurant Ottimo will open later this month, followed swiftly by The Beeston Social, a new bar and eatery, which are both beneath the Arc Cinema complex at the new Beeston Square redevelopment. There are also plans for a new Sicilian street food restaurant in a property previously home to Renaissance Fashion Agency.
