New homes are set to be created in Wishaw town centre after council planners gave the proposals the go ahead.
The upper floor space at a property in Kirk Road will be converted into three flats with six dormers being installed within the roof.
No parking is proposed as part of the conversion however, it is considered that given the town centre location and the access to public transport, the lack of off-street parking is acceptable.
There were no letters of objections to the plans.
The site, which is a Category B listed building, was given the green light with the NLC planners report revealing the reasons why.
It states: “The application site is within a town centre location where there is a mix of established uses including commercial and residential uses such as upper storey flats.
“It is considered that the proposed conversion will not undermine the vitality and viability of the town centre and will not have a significant impact upon the character of the area.
“The proposed external works to the Category B listed building are acceptable and would not have a significant adverse impact on the character and appearance of the listed building and any impact would not be so significant to warrant a refusal in this case.
“In conclusion, as there are no additional material considerations to be taken into account that determines that the development plan should not prevail, the proposed development is consistent with several policies and should be approved with conditions.”
