Planning permission granted for three new homes in Lanarkshire village

North Lanarkshire councillors have given the go-ahead for three more new homes to be built near Cleland.

Permission for the houses was granted during the meeting of the local authority’s planning committee this week. The application had been lodged by Taylor Homes (Scotland) Limited, Eastcroft House in Wishaw.

The three detached homes will occupy a 0.23 hectare site on land at North And South Road at Bellside, and each will feature an integral garage with its own dedicated driveway, and garden ground. The design and scale of the houses are similar to those nearby.

Despite being contrary to the development plan for the area it was considered an acceptable exception to Green Belt policy, given its size.

Councillors accepted that the proposed dwellings could be incorporated without having a detrimental impact on the character and amenity of the site and surrounding Green Belt.

The grant of planning permission was approved subject to conditions, including; a comprehensive site investigation report to be carried out to establish whether site decontamination is required, and any remediation works identified by the site investigation shall be carried out to the satisfaction of the planning authority.

Noise pollution mitigation measures are also to be installed as is suitable street lighting.
