A consultation has opened in Bridgend regarding plans for 65 apartments. The homes are planned to be built at Sunnyside House, between Angel Street and Sunnyside Road.
Under proposals from the Linc Cymru housing association, the site of the former water board offices in Bridgend could be demolished to make way for two blocks of apartments used for social rent, in its place.

The property that was constructed during the early to mid-1970s, and is situated on the corner of Angel Street and Sunnyside Road in Bridgend, would make way for 65 affordable dwellings split between two buildings if given the go-ahead by the council's planning committee.
Based on 0.4 hectares of land close to the town's centre, it would consist of 52 one-bedroom apartments along with 13 two-bedroom apartments. In addition, developers would provide bicycle and car parking, waste storage facilities, landscape planting, sustainable drainage and associated infrastructure at the site.
As per the proposals, a two-storey block to the north of the site would contain 6 one-bedroom apartments, while a larger L-shaped block on the corner of Angel Street and Sunnyside would stand up to six storeys high and contain 46 one-bedroom apartments and 13 two-bedroom apartments.
Developers are currently undergoing a statutory pre-application consultation exercise in line with Welsh Government guidelines, to allow interested parties to comment on the potential plans before the progress any further.
The consultation for the site is now open until Friday December 16. You can read more of our stories from Bridgend here.
