Plane passenger gobsmacked as mysterious 'UFO' seen as they took off

A plane passenger was left gobsmacked after they spotted what they thought to be a mysterious UFO from their window as they took off from a busy airport.

The anonymous passenger claimed that they saw a large oblong shape flying through the air as they set off from Glasgow Airport on Thursday, Feb 17.

The photos were taken from the right-hand side of the plane as it took off from the Scottish airport, as Glasgow Live reports.

The sighting comes weeks after a passenger on a plane from Glasgow to London Gatwick was spooked by a "strange object" she spotted during the flight.

Marjol Cela said she spotted the UFO as the flight was descending into London, and said it looked like an "object in disguise" which looked like it was "hovering" rather than flying.

The news comes after the anniversary of an American Airlines pilot reporting a UFO sighting to the FBI for investigation.

The FBI confirmed reports that flight AA 2292, which was travelling between Cincinnati and Phoenix on February 21, 2021 had a near-miss with an unidentified flying object shortly before twenty past one, local time.

The pilot contacted Albuquerque air traffic control to request information on the bizarre sighting and was heard asking if they had "targets" up in the air.

In an audio clip of the radio transmission, he added: "We just had something just go over the top of us.

"I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing - moving really fast right over the top of us."

While American Airlines initially played down the report, a company spokesperson confirmed the incident in a statement that said: "Following a debrief with our Flight Crew and additional information received we can confirm this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on Feb. 21.”
