A plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a flight attendant suffered a fatal heart attack.
The Gulf Air Airbus A321 passenger aircraft was flying from Bahrain to France when the tragedy happened.
The plane took off at 10.22pm on November 22 from Bahrain International Airport and was due to reach Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris around six hours after departure.
However, when nearing the Iraq-Turkey border the plane was diverted to Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan region when a crew member suffered a heart attack mid-flight.
The airline said the worker was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead in Erbil.
The flight continued to Paris after the attendant was taken by local medical services, Gulf Air said.
Gulf Air said in a statement, seen by TradeArabia News Service : "The national carrier expresses its deepest condolences to the crew member's family and loved ones, and confirms that the flight resumed to Paris as scheduled.
"Gulf Air reassures that the safety of its passengers and crew comes at the top of its priorities, and thanks the affected flight's passengers for their patience and understanding."
Earlier this month, a man died onboard an easyJet flight that was travelling from Cyprus to London's Gatwick Airport.
Urgent attempts to resuscitate the passenger using a defibrillator sadly proved unsuccessful.
Other passengers first grew concerned when a dark-haired traveller, aged around 50, wasn't waking up. The man appeared to be travelling alone.
An anonymous source praised the way in which the easyJet crew handled the distressing incident.
An easyJet spokesperson told The Mirror: "easyJet can confirm that sadly a passenger died onboard flight EZY8454 from Paphos to London Gatwick on 17 November.
"The well-being of our passengers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority. Our crew are trained to respond to medical issues and did all possible during the flight.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the customer and we are offering support and assistance at this difficult time."
