Police and emergency services have confirmed a fatality after a plane crash near Gundaroo.
The light plane crashed on the Hadlow Drive property, about 30 kilometres north-east of Canberra, just before 3pm on Friday.
NSW Police confirmed it was a fatal crash, but could not yet say how many people were on board the plane.
"Officers from Monaro Police District are conducting inquiries into the incident, including confirming how many people were on board at the time," NSW Police said in a statement.
"The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have been notified and will attend the scene."
The plane caught fire after it crashed on the property.
The plane is believed to be small single engine, five-seater Cirrus SR22, on flightpath from Canberra Airport to Armidale.
Publically available flight information showed the aircraft took off from Canberra Airport at 2.24pm on Friday afternoon.
The plane first headed south before turning over Queanbeyan and heading north-east towards Lake George before crashing.
The plane was in the air for 16 minutes and crashed at 2.49pm, the public flight tracking data showed.
The plane is registered to Up N Up Aviation Pty Ltd, which is based in North Lakes, Queensland.
The company is registered to Michael Cahill.
