Plans have been submitted for the extension of a primary school in the Meadows. Victoria Primary School, situated in Ainsworth Drive, has put forward proposals for an extension to its reception and school admin office with a projecting canopy.
The plans were submitted by Novara Academy Trust, which runs the 354-pupil school and says the reception area is currently "far too small". In a supporting planning document, the trust said there was "insufficient space" for parents waiting to speak to teachers as well as wheelchair users and parents with prams.
It added: "The office itself is cramped to accommodate the members of staff and files that need to be stored. There is also no direct access from the reception into the office which is problematic. The current reception was constructed as part of the school modifications prior to 2013 and unfortunately, does not present a welcoming face to the school."

The trust said the "modest" 440 square metre extension was an "opportunity to give the school a new recognizable face" that pupils and visitors "can identify with". It said benefits would include creating an "identity" to the school entrance, reducing congestion and improving the operational aspects of the school.
The plans submitted to Nottingham City Council on April 11 are pending consideration.
