A Place in The Sun star Jonnie Irwin has given a form seal of approval to a restaurant in Jesmond, urging his many followers to 'check it out' if they're ever in the area.
Popular TV presenter Jonnie prompted an outpouring of support when he made his terminal cancer diagnosis public last year. He was given the devastating lung cancer prognosis back in August 2020, despite suffering no common signs or symptoms. The disease has since spread to his brain, with him now facing up to the heart-breaking realisation that he could have just months to live.
It was reported that he moved his family to Newcastle to secure a comfortable future for his wife Jessica, as well as his three sons when he passes away. And, since making the switch to Tyneside, Jonnie has been getting to know his new surroundings, taking trips to the coast and heading to Kingston Park to see Newcastle Falcons in action.

And now, having had a takeaway from the restaurant just a few days earlier, Jonnie is waxing lyrical about his meal at Dosa Kitchen, the Osborne Road haunt which declares its mission is to 'serve up simple, delicious and inventive dishes inspired by the Tamil Nadu area of South India.'
Jonnie was clearly a massive fan as he uploaded a photo of a table full of delicious looking food onto his Instagram grid and writing: "After driving past the restaurant on the nursery run I finally got round to having dinner at @dosakitchenuk. Without doubt the most authentic South Indian cuisine I’ve eaten outside of the subcontinent."
Encouraging anyone who hadn't tried Dosa before to put it on their to-do list, Jonnie added: "If you’re in the northeast then check it out. It’s not just about the Dosa but you’d be nuts not to have one on the side."
Dosa staff were quick to respond to Jonnie's glowing review, writing: "Thank you @jonnieirwintv for visiting us! Loved hosting you, and we’re stoked you enjoyed our food…..Big love from all of us at Dosa Kitchen!"
Another Dosa fan, one of Jonnie's followers told him: "Shush Jonnie, one of the north east best kept secrets," with another commenting: "Ohhhh I'm just a few minutes away from there, thanks for the tip"
