Pizza Delivery Driver Shoots And Kills Customer During Robbery Attempt

Seattle Police Department

In a recent incident in Houston, Texas, a pizza delivery driver was forced to defend himself when a customer attempted to rob him. The delivery person, employed by an unnamed establishment, arrived at the Park Yellowstone Apartment Homes just before 12:45 a.m. when he was confronted by a male suspect.

According to the Houston Police Department, the suspect pointed a gun at the driver and demanded cash. Fearing for his life, the driver, in an act of self-defense, pulled out his own gun and fatally shot the suspect. The driver, who was not injured during the altercation, remained at the scene to provide a statement to responding officers.

Authorities revealed that a second male suspect, described as a Black male wearing a white hooded sweater, was involved in the incident and allegedly took a backpack from the scene. Homicide investigators are actively searching for this individual to gather more information about his role in the attempted robbery.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office will be referring the shooting to a grand jury for further review. This process is standard procedure in cases involving the use of deadly force to ensure that all aspects of the incident are thoroughly examined.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the risks faced by delivery drivers who often work late hours and encounter various situations while on the job. While the driver was able to protect himself from harm, the incident highlights the importance of safety precautions and vigilance in potentially dangerous situations.
