Pixie Lott's poignant reason for delaying her wedding now she's finally tying the knot

Since bursting into the charts in 2009 with her hit Mama Do, Pixie Lott has become something of a chameleon within the entertainment industry.

Best known as a blonde bombshell performer with chart-topping hits including All About Tonight and Boys And Girls, the versatile star has also taken up acting on stage and screen, most notably starring as the iconic Holly Golightly in a West End production of Breakfast At Tiffany’s in 2016.

On top of that, Pixie helps nurture up-and-coming talent on The Voice Kids and even runs her own performing arts school.

Here, the singer, 31, divulges details about her upcoming wedding to her model fiancé, 33-year-old Oliver Cheshire, and how they wanted to wait until restrictions were lifted so they could have exactly the celebration they wanted.

Pixie also spills all on keeping the romance alive, her true passion in life, and her very special relationship with her hairdresser…

You must be so excited about your wedding. How’s the planning?

It’s going good! We’re getting into the nitty gritty now. I always felt like it was so far away, but it’s really creeping up on us. We’ve had to move it a few times because of the lockdowns in the pandemic, so we’re happy we’re finally doing it. It’s been a long time coming!

Was it tough having to keep postponing it?

Yeah, it was. But we obviously weren’t alone, so many people had to move their wedding and postpone everything. I’m just so happy that things are going ahead. But we knew we had to do it and we weren’t the only ones.

Will it be a big party to make up for lost time?

Definitely! I didn’t want to do it when there were restrictions and we couldn’t invite everyone we wanted to because of the rules. I wanted to wait until we could have the big party – our wedding will be a big party!

Do you and Oliver still make time for date nights?

Yeah, it’s important to still do that. Life goes so quickly and we’re so busy working on completely different projects so it’s important to take that time. Olly is such a good cook. I’m really lucky with that because I’m the worst with cooking, so he cooks a lovely dinner.

You’ve been a household name for 13 years now. Does it feel like that long?

It does and it doesn’t. I feel like I’ve been doing this my whole life – I love it and live and breathe it. I can’t imagine doing anything else. But on the other hand it doesn’t because my passion for music has only got stronger. I just feel so lucky that I’m still in this profession and making music and doing shows.

You’ve dabbled in acting, too...

Yeah. I do love acting as well, but music is my number one. I grew up doing all aspects of performance and I want to be as rounded a performer as possible, so any experience that makes me a better artist I grab with both hands. I did a short film in the second lockdown and really enjoyed it. That’s going into the film festivals at the moment.

And you’ve turned your hand to coaching on The Voice Kids. Do you get a buzz from helping emerging talent?

Yeah, I’ve always been passionate about young talent and new talent coming forward. I started doing auditions from a young age, so I know how the kids are feeling. I run an open mic night for unsigned acts and I also have a performing arts school that I run each weeknight and every Saturday with my mum and sister. I grew up in that environment, so I know it inside out and I just love witnessing amazing talent and doing anything I can to help them.

How do you find working alongside your family?

It’s amazing! We’re such a close family. They’re so supportive and they come to all my shows. Doing the school together has been brilliant. My sister, who is the principal, never wanted to be on stage but loves the behind-the-scenes aspects. It’s her full-time job and she loves it. My mum loves it, too. We’re a good team.

You’re working with L’Oréal on its Hair The Love campaign. What made you get involved?

I love that it’s encouraging people to show appreciation for their hairdressers because I love my hairdresser, Larry. I’ve been working with him for a long time and it’s great to celebrate that and spread the message that hairdressers are so much more than people who style your hair.

Will Larry do your hair for the wedding?

Yes! I couldn’t have anyone other than Larry, and my fiancé loves Larry just as much as I do. He’s been doing Oliver’s hair for longer than mine, that’s how I met Larry. I’m going for a trial in the next month to see what kind of vibe we’re going for. It’s going
to be amazing.
