Two Pittsburgh men stabbed each other because one wanted heroin while the other refused to clean a litter box, according to a criminal complaint.
Michael James Holliday, 43, called police on Sunday to report that he had accidentally stabbed William Johnson, 54, in his arm. Johnson told police he stabbed Holliday in the back in self-defense, according to reporting by Trib Live.
While the men were being treated at a hospital, their stories changed. Holliday shared he stabbed Johnson because he had cornered and badgered him for heroin. Johnson, however, stated Holliday said something "smart" after he agreed to clean a litter box, and as he approached Holliday, Johnson was stabbed in his arm.
During a search, police later found blood trailing across walls and through the house to a bathroom and bedroom. Law enforcement also found bags of what they believe was heroin and fentanyl, syringes, needles and three bloody knives as well as a bag of heroin in Johnson's wallet.
Each man was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and drug offenses, and have yet to be arraigned.
