The wait continues at the Pipe Pro with competition remaining on hold, however more favourable surf conditions are forecast for Hawaii's North Shore.
There has been no competition since Thursday (AEDT), with a storm putting the event on hold for two days, which also forced a further delay due to shifting sand.
"The swell came with a lot of sand pushing down to the main take-off area at Backdoor, and the quality is not there, neither for barrels nor turns," World Surf League deputy commissioner Renato Hickel said on Monday local time.
"The conditions are actually worse than yesterday. The good news is we've had improvements to the forecast for the back-end of the waiting period.
"We're going to try again tomorrow (local time).
"A new north-west swell is supposed to fill in throughout the night and in the morning so we're hopeful that we can do some heats otherwise, we'll look at Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday."
With 10 Australians in action, only Molly Picklum missed the chance to hit the water on day one of the season-opening event.
The 2024 Olympian is in one of the two remaining women's first-round heats with two-time world champion Tyler Wright one of the stand-outs in early action.
Once the men's competition resumes, Australians Ryan Callinan, Joel Vaughan and Liam O'Brien are in the elimination round.
