Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants have been struggling after the DWP delayed payments due to a 'processing issue'.
There are reports that a nationwide processing issue has caused delays to some PIP benefit payments. As a result some of those who rely on the payments took to social media to share their worry after the payment delays left them short.
Some said they had been left financially stretched by the payment delay, unable to cover basic living costs. Others said they had attempted to contact the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) but had been unable to get through to anyone, while others said they were cut off after waiting to talk to someone, reported Birmingham Live.

@SiannaAskew wrote on Twitter : “So I’ve been up all night crying, panicking on how I’m going to get gas/electric as no payment from #PIP, normally comes in Saturday, but waited for original payment day and still nothing. Phone DWP, and they hang up."
Others reported that they had been informed there was a national processing problem affecting some PIP claimants. Twitter user @LokiStarPhoenix reported that a DWP voicemail message said the department was undertaking an “urgent enquiry” into the issue.
Martin Lewis, the Money Saving Expert founder, said he was aware that some PIP claimants had not received payments as scheduled. He said on Twitter that he had received “quite a few reports” of delays to PIP payments.
PIP is a disability benefit that provides recipients living with long-term physical problems, disabilities or mental health conditions with help towards the cost of everyday tasks and mobility. It is usually paid every four weeks.
