PIP claimants could be owed thousands of pounds from the DWP

More than 100,000 benefit claimants could be owed thousands from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) after a system error.

One man was awarded £12,000 after contacting the DWP to recalculate his Personal Independence Payment (PIP). The latest figures show the government has forked out £42 million in 8,200 payments after huge changes to PIP calculations.

As many as 164,000 claimants could be impacted, the DWP estimates. Citizens Advice say you can ask the DWP to look again if you have a mental health condition that makes going outside difficult.
