Pino, Neto, Hudson-Odoi - Arsenal's best transfer target as Mikel Arteta eyes 'mystery winger'

The past few transfer windows have shown a change in Arsenal's approach when it comes to their direction in building a squad. The focus has shifted to younger players with potential as well as the right character and profile to fit the system Mikel Arteta is looking to play.

The results so far have been fantastic, seeing the side take an upward trajectory last season, improving on their consecutive eighth-placed finishes but narrowly missing out on a return to the Champions League. In this campaign they look to go one step further, with five additional signings and over £100million spent in the market so far.

With two wins from their first two games, it's an ideal start for the Gunners, who are starting to reap the rewards of their patience and strategy. That strategy has included being ruthless in the transfer market, whether that means avoiding players at certain price points, letting underperforming high-earners leave or simply not signing players if it doesn't suit them.

With a few weeks left in the market, Arteta may have some decisions to make over one or two further additions. The Spaniard has also claimed that the side are keeping an eye on more opportunities in the window before it closes.

One of those could be a "mystery winger" after links with a move for another forward. Plenty have been linked, so with that said, here's a look at the best options.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea academy graduate Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with a shock move to the Emirates this summer. The 21-year-old is said to be free to leave the Blues this summer in search of more game time to progress his development in his career.

The forward fits the age profile of the Arsenal squad, but it remains to be seen exactly how much he could cost or how he may impact the wage structure. Given his struggles playing backup with the Blues, he may have similar issues if he's second choice behind Bukayo Saka.

Pedro Neto

Wolves forward Pedro Neto is another who has been linked, given his impressive performances for the Midlands club. The 22-year-old also fits the age profile of the club and his fearlessness on the ball driving forward would offer the side plenty either starting or coming off the bench.

A similar issue to Hudson-Odoi may be just how much it may cost to land the Portuguese international. Wolves have spent heavily this summer, but they have shown with Ruben Neves just how they could hold out for a big transfer fee.

Yeremy Pino

Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino has also been reported with interest from Arsenal this summer, with the 19-year-old starring heavily at such a young age. Despite signing a new contract recently, a price of £42million is said to have been set on the youngster, who is a proven asset at this point.

That could prove to be a steal, given plenty of interest from other Premier League clubs at this time. With his ability to play anywhere across the front three and his first-team status at such a young age, Pino may be the best option for Arteta this window.
