Pink visits popular restaurant for a curry ahead of huge UK stadium gig

Pop star Pink popped into a city centre curry house to enjoy a meal before playing to a packed stadium on her UK tour. The So What singer became the latest star to enjoy a meal at Asha's in Birmingham ahead of her gig at Villa Park on Tuesday night (June 13).

is the latest in a growing list of famous faces to have tucked into a curry at the Newhall Street eatery. Tom Cruise famously polished off two chicken tikka masalas at the joint while taking a break from shooting Mission: Impossible 7 in 2021.

Steven Gerrard and Ed Sheeran can also be counted among Asha's clientele - and now, Pink. Restaurant bosses were so chuffed by her visit that they've dedicated a new cocktail to her.

Speaking to BirminghamLive, manager Jebin Jacob revealed what the 43-year-old - and her 12 companions - ordered for dinner. During her visit on Monday, June 12, Pink's party ordered a selection of starters and curries.

During her performance the following night, Pink described the meal as 'the best Indian food of her life'. But one dish proved 'too spicy' for the chart-topper.

"She was just quite casual, she was with members of her crew, friends and family," said Jebin. "So for appetisers, they had samosas and mushroom Kurkure.

"For the main course, she tried chicken Chettinadu and chicken Dhaba curry. She said she liked the chicken Chettinadu. She found the Dhaba curry a bit too spicy for her.

"She was with 12 people and some kids, along with her children. You can see them in the photos. There were some members of her crew there too."

He added: "She said people had told her when she came to Birmingham, they should come to Asha's - so she came!"

Pink's favourite dish, the Chicken Chettinadu is on the menu at Asha's for £22.75. It's described as a spicy south Indian curry, combining ground coconut, curry leaves, fennel and sesame seeds.

Sharing the visit on their Twitter page, Asha's said: "When the stars come to #Birmingham... They head to Asha's!

"It was a pleasure to welcome @Pink ahead of her sell-out show this evening at Villa Park. In honour of P!NK's visit, our expert mixologists created a new Gin-based cocktail, but it's yet to be named...

"Tweet us your suggestion, and the best name will not only be added to our menu, but the lucky winner will also receive an exclusive cocktail master class at our award-winning bar and restaurant."
