As of Thursday afternoon, approximately 70% of Pinellas County remains without power following the impact of Hurricane Milton. Duke Energy representative Jeff Baker stated during a news conference that the restoration process will be extensive, with some residents potentially facing outages for a week or more.
St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth T. Welch provided an update on the water situation in the city, noting that water service has been restored to residents after Hurricane Milton caused 30 water line breaks. Despite the restoration, residents are advised to adhere to a boil water notice as a precautionary measure.
Mayor Welch emphasized the importance of boiling water from faucets before consumption or oral hygiene activities such as brushing teeth. While the water is deemed safe for showering, residents are urged to continue boiling water until further notice.
